Since its first flight in 1939, the Airport has grown to become
the Midlands key gateway to the world, with around nine million people travelling through it every year.
‘For many, an airport evokes a sense of adventure and the discovery of new horizons. For me these sentiments took on a literal meaning. The airport symbolises my passion for aviation but more importantly, reminds me of what can be achieved if I put my mind to it.’
